Meyikpor Community Water Filtration System

Access to clean and safe drinking water is a fundamental human right, yet many communities, like Meyikpor in Ghana, still face challenges due to water hardness and salinity. In response, we successfully drilled and installed a water borehole to provide the community with a reliable water source. However, recent tests have revealed that the water is hard (salty), making it unsuitable for drinking and long-term use. To address this, we are launching a new initiative to install an advanced Ultra-Filtration System that will purify the water, removing excess salts and contaminants, ensuring safe and clean water for the community.
The Challenge
The existing borehole provides water, but its high salinity poses health risks, including kidney problems and hypertension, and damages household appliances due to scaling. The community members, especially women and children, often travel long distances in search of cleaner water sources, wasting time and energy that could be used for education and economic activities.
Impact
Health Improvement: Reduced waterborne diseases and better hydration.
Economic Relief: Families save money on medical bills and bottled water.
Time-Saving: Women and children spend less time fetching water from distant sources. Sustainability: Long-term access to clean water supports agriculture and small businesses
By contributing to this project, you’re not just giving water; you’re giving health, opportunity, and hope.
