Dear Prayer Partners,
We write to you with an important update regarding the ongoing mission trip in Nigeria.

We are grateful to God that Raymond, Jennifer, Abigail, and Fred Konadu (from Ghana) arrived safely in Jos from Lagos on Sunday, March 29, as planned. However, there was a tragic event of a deliberate attack in Ungwan Rukuba, a Christian community in Jos on the same day, which resulted in the death of about fifty people, with several others injured. This led the Plateau State Government to impose a 48-hour curfew across Jos, which remains in effect.

After careful consideration and in light of the safety of all involved (participants coming to Jos from all over Nigeria and West Africa), we have decided to cancel the Emmaus Leadership Conference. Moreover, the brethren conference was also cancelled. While this is deeply disappointing, we trust in the Lord’s wisdom and timing, knowing that He orders our steps and is never hindered by circumstances. In addition, due to ongoing security concerns, Raymond, Jennifer and Abigail will move to another part of the country for mission work, while Fred returns to Ghana.
Even in this, we remain confident that the Lord is at work. Though our plans have changed, His purposes have not.
We ask for your continued prayers that:
- Peace will be restored in Jos and across Nigeria.
- The Lord will protect and strengthen His people in the midst of the unrest.
- God will comfort and encourage the workers, even in the face of disappointment
- The Emmaus Leadership Conference will, in God’s perfect time, be rescheduled and bear much fruit.
- God will grant safe travels for the Johnsons as they return to the United States, and Fred to Ghana.
Thank you for your continuous support.
